Back in 2001 I was working at Duke University creating an ecommerce web site for their students. The site would allow the incoming class in August to register and pay for their resident services, such as phone, cable tv, pagers, etc. before arriving at the campus (or soon thereafter) and would supplement the process formerly used, which was to stand in line to sign up in person on one of the first two days at school. The web app was a great success and over 60% of the students used it instead of the in-person sign up. Unfortunately for me, although my work was a great success, my personality clashed and I was let go in September, one week after 9/11.
Shortly thereafter, with no new contracts in the offing, I started Pemaquid Solutions and started beating the bushes for web development business. This web site told a bit about me, showed examples of my work and offered up my CV. The name comes from a favorite place of mine, Pemaquid Point in Bristol, Maine. The lighthouse there is one of the most photographed in the world as it sits on an incredible rock formation.
I never did much with the site and it has alway been pretty much as you see it now. The slider with the screen captures of the web sites is one new addition. On and off I have sought to establish a customer base for Pemaquid Solutions, meeting with varied levels of minor success. At this point I no longer actively seek new web site development work, so the site will remain in mothballs until such time as it is needed once again.
